Junaluska Mountain | SW Haywood County, about 5 mi. SW of Lake Junaluska. Alt. 5,071. Named to honor Junaluska, Cherokee chief who saved Andrew Jackson's life at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, 1812. Known for a time in the 1920s as North Eaglenest Mountain in connection with the promotion of a hotel there. See also Jones Knob. |
